Today, 20.12.23, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Minister of Transport Georgi Gvozdeykov officially handed over the certificates of airworthiness to the first six pilots of the future HEMS system (from Helicopter Emergency Medical Service).
Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov congratulated the pilots and reminded that the contract with the manufacturer allows the number of six helicopters to be supplemented with two more machines. A total of 36 pilots and 14 engineers are expected to work in the system. The first Bulgarian helicopter for emergency air assistance is scheduled to fly from Italy to Bulgaria in mid-January.
The helicopters our country will receive are equipped to fly during the dark part of the day. This will happen once the newly established aviation operator has gained the relevant experience, in accordance with European regulations.
Among the official guests were Ms. Anelia Marinova, Director General of the CAA, Brigadier General Yulian Radoisky and Mr. Todor Ivandjikov – Chairman of BAIA.
From the bottom of our hearts we wish the HEMS team every success!
