After a year of struggle the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association (BAIA), competitions for key positions in the main aviation regulator in Bulgaria, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Administration (DG CAA), have been announced.
On 26 October, competitions for “Director of Directorate” in the Directorate of Flight Standards and “Director of Directorate” in the Directorate of Operators, Aviation Security, Airspace, Search and Rescue and Legal Assurance were published on the Department’s website.
These are two key positions in the institution that have been vacant for a long time. The advertisements set out a number of criteria which candidates must meet, namely:
1. For the post of Director of the Directorate of Flight Standards:
– degree: master;
– professional field: aviation, pilot, aviation engineer or technical sciences;
– Professional experience: minimum 5 years professional experience in airworthiness and/or flight operations and/or Junior II rank;
The competition will be held in two phases: a Strategic Management Concept Presentation on “Priorities in the Management of the Directorate of Flight Standards” and an interview.
2. For the post of Director in the Directorate of Operators, Aviation Security, Airspace, Search and Rescue and Legal Assurance:
– degree: master;
– professional field: aviation, technical sciences or law with acquired legal capacity;
– Professional experience: minimum 5 years in the field of airport operations, civil aviation security, air traffic management/air navigation services or legal experience and/or Junior II rank.
The theme for the first stage of this competition is ‘Priorities in the management of the activities of the Operators, Aviation Security, Airspace, Search and Rescue and Legal Directorate’.
BAIA recalls that these are two of the most important positions in the DG CAA and calls for transparent and professional selection. The organisation hopes that candidates who reach the interview stage are truly assessed on their merits.
