Today, 18 October 2021, the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association /BAIA/ turns 1 year old. It was established with the aim to unite companies in the domestic aviation sector in order to carry out a direct dialogue and easier solution of current problems. Todor Ivandjikov was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the organization, and the members of the Board of Directors were selected as follows: Yanko Ivanov (Gullivair), Viktor Mikhailov (Plane Care Solutions Ltd.), Brigadier General Julian Radojski (Georgi Benkovski Air Force Academy) and the pilot Georgi Stoyanov.

As of today, 30 companies in the aviation industry are full members of BAIA, including airlines, ground handling and maintenance companies, training centres and higher education institutions.

The President of BAIА Todor Ivandjikov sent the following greetings to the members of the organization:

Dear BAIA Members,

Dear friends,

Today, 18 October, marks the 1st anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association /BAIA/. A year that we have spent in the conditions of the crisis of the unshakable virus COVID-19, unprecedented in the history of world aviation.

A year in which we are trying to help our members and aviation in Bulgaria, which is extremely affected by the effect of the coronavirus worldwide.

A year in which we managed to convince the state that companies in the aviation sector could not survive without its intervention and managed to get the government to allocate a budget for aviation, but the corruption in parliament created for a short time and lobbies in various departments, is about to ruin this success.

A year in which we managed to establish a dialogue with the main aviation regulator in Bulgaria – DG CAA and we are following the steps towards change, which is not easy either. This dialogue must continue, and the work to achieve European standards, where the CAA can rise in the rankings in which it is placed, must not stop.

Dear BAIA Members,

I turn to you with gratitude for working as a team, which we have built despite our differences in views. Let us continue to help each other and stand by each other and bring in more members so that we can become stronger and be heard and respected. Morality and ethics must defeat backroom deals, corruption and strive to clear the name of Bulgarian Aviation.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Todor Ivandjikov

President of BAIA
