Today, 11 February, at 09:57, an ATR72 (reg. LZ-DAJ) aircraft of GullivAir airline (members of BAIA) was flown to Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia) by a Macedonian and Bulgarian delegation led by the Ministers of Transport of the two countries Nikolay Sabev and Blagoy Bochvarsky, as well as tour operators from both countries. BTA reports.

The carrier clarified to Flight Zone that this is a separate flight and not the first of the soon-to-open scheduled service. The latter is expected to start next month.

Among those present on the board was the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism in the 47th National Assembly Ilin Dimitrov. From the Macedonian side, a 6-member official delegation, including the Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoy Bochvarski, the Minister of Local Self-Government Goran Milevski and Mrs. Razmena Durovik, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, will take part in the busy day of meetings.

At the Skopje International Airport the two delegations were welcomed by the Macedonian Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi and Angel Angelov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of North Macedonia.

The agenda includes a meeting at the Deputies’ Club to look at options and determine details around the future operation of the airline. Tourism packages should also be firmed up to help increase the number of tourist arrivals from both countries. The directors of the Tourism Promotion Agency, Lubomir Yanevsky, and the Civil Aviation Agency, Tomislav Tuntev, will also take part in the business meetings. The officials are accompanied by 20 representatives of Macedonian tourism companies. An important highlight of the program is the upcoming meeting in a working format between business representatives from both sides of the border, in an effort for them to deepen their contacts and cooperation and give a new impetus to tourism in the region.

The return flight to Bulgaria is expected to land in Sofia tonight at 17:25.
