Why not take a day trip with GullivAir between Serbia and Bulgaria to try some local specialties? The Burgas-Belgrade line will be one of the main topics to be discussed at the upcoming Regional Forum for Air Connectivity and Tourism in Burgas. The event will take place on 22 February 2022 at 13:00 in the Compass Hall of the Bulgaria Hotel in Burgas. The organizers are Rafael-Info, Culture and Tourism Association Burgas, in partnership and cooperation with the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association (BAIA), Burgas Municipality and with the support of the municipalities of the Burgas Black Sea Tourist Region. The event is expected to take place under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Tourism.
The forum focused on untapped opportunities for connectivity and tourism with the implementation of new flights and destinations with a focus from/to Burgas Airport. The event aims to focus attention on the successful implementation, development and year-round retention of destinations from the seaside city. This could be done through a common cooperation and communication between the airline sector and the tourism industry, as well as all actors in the chain with a stated desire for common support towards the development of any opportunity giving an additional incentive to get out of the COVID crisis faster. In this regard Valentin Atanasov – founder of Rafael-Info, Culture and Tourism – Burgas said:
“We refer to Burgas because it is the worst year-round / with 2 flights, but directly / indirectly concerns Varna, the municipalities around and near the sea, which can also be an interesting destination in the off-season. We have specifically proposed to BAIA the creation of a flight from Burgas to Belgrade, which appealed to GullivAir, and we will consider it at the forum, but there are other possibilities that will also be discussed!”
Todor Ivandjikov – President of BAIA said:
“At the beginning of 2022, we set a goal to make the aviation sector a priority for the country. This cannot happen without direct cooperation between tour operators, travel associations and carriers. I believe that the forum will be the “first sod” of a long-lasting and fruitful cooperation that will yield its results in a very short time.”
The list of Forum participants is not yet complete. An important role will be played by the concessionaire of the maritime airports, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management JSC. The involvement of other airlines and companies in the industry is also expected. Mr Atanasov added:
“We hope to get off to a good start with an annual national forum – a dialogue between the portfolios and those involved in these important sectors, with the addition of cross-border and international links and partnerships.”
Along with the aforementioned Burgas-Belgrade route, other GullivAir views on cost-effective flights will be presented. The possibility of making the seasonal Burgas-Vienna route operated by Lauda Air a year-round service will also be discussed.
