BULATSA recorded a 51.19% increase in the number of flights served in September this year compared to September 2020, with a total of 61,573 last month.
An increase of more than 54 percent was also recorded in the number of international flights – both departing and landing. In September this year Bulgarian air traffic controllers serviced a total of 6 920 international flights, compared to 4 482 in the same period last year.
There was also an increase in the number of overflying aircrafts serviced, which was 53,237 in September this year and 34,657 in September 2020, an increase of 53.6 per cent.A decrease of 10.72 per cent was recorded only in the number of domestic flights serviced (take-offs and landings) for the past September 2021, or 1,416 compared to 1,586 for the same period in 2020.
Despite the positive statistics in recent months, Bulgarian airlines continue to experience difficulties and many of them are facing bankruptcy. We remind you that the state aid of 60 million BGN is yet to be distributed, and BAIA continues to work to ensure that the funds are used transparently and properly by those most affected by the coronavirus crisis, and not by those whose debts were accumulated in a previous period.
